Senior Care for Couples

At Friends for Life Homecare, we understand that in-home care is about more than living in the same four walls — it’s about familiarity, love, and cherished memories. That’s why we offer senior care for couples, so clients can enjoy the companionship and love of their marriage. If one spouse grows weaker or suffers from an ailment, each individual is placed in a role that they may not be prepared for. Is it any wonder that nearly one-fifth of seniors are re-hospitalized within 30 days of being discharged from the hospital, usually with a different condition than they were originally admitted for?

Recovery Care

If you or a family member has or is planning to undergo surgery or will need rehabilitation, you can count on Friends for Life Homecare. Friends for Life will help you manage your daily tasks, including getting to and from your doctor appointments or picking you up after surgery.

Recovery Care is about putting a plan in motion to get you back on your feet and on the road to recovery, safely and quickly. The plan can include a variety of services, for example, focusing on nutritional requirements for specific dietary needs. Extra helping hands to assist you with safe ambulation or transfers as needed while recovering. It is all too easy for many of us to think we are 100% well before we actually are, and something as simple as a bit of lightheadedness can quickly put you into danger, resulting in a dreaded fall, which, of course, may lead to either a re-injury or other complications. Whether you have just started exploring treatment or have already scheduled surgery, let’s work together to assess a Recovery Care strategy to help you or your family member recover quickly and safely.

Friends For Life Homecare can provide the help your senior loved one needs to fully recover at a time when clients are leaving the hospital sicker and quicker than ever before.

Hospital Sitters

For those who are staying at the hospital, we provide sitter services. Our caregivers sit with and monitor clients during their hospital stay. When it’s time to go home, the caregiver is there to provide a smooth transition. He or she can transport you from the care facility and provide essential support during an often-stressful time.

Post-Hospitalization Care

When seniors return home after a hospital stay, they face many new and unexpected challenges. If they struggle to read fine print, it can be difficult to decipher prescriptions and manage new medications. Even if they suffer from memory loss, their health depends on remembering and following discharge instructions while making and keeping follow-up doctor’s appointments. It can also be a struggle to obtain the in-home support they require while they recuperate.

Once home, the caregiver can provide the following services:

  • Errands, grocery shopping, prescription pick-up, housekeeping
  • Meal preparation and nutrition
  • Rehabilitation reminders, physical and emotional support, and companionship
  • Transportation to rehabilitation sessions, doctor appointments, and personal events
  • Regular status updates to/from the care team and family
