Let Our Family, Help Your Family

Homecare is more than a profession for the Recco family—it’s a generational legacy.

It all began with the visionary pioneer of homecare, Norma Recco, whose compassion and dedication set the foundation for our family’s journey. Norma’s son, Michael, followed in her footsteps, passing on her wisdom to his wife, Amy.

Now, Michael and Amy are inspiring and guiding their children, Christopher and Emily, to carry on this heartfelt mission.

Together, the Recco family shares an unwavering passion for caring for others. We take pride in growing our team and spreading the love and care that started with the incomparable Norma Recco, whose name has become synonymous with excellence in homecare.

A Message From Michael Recco

The History of Friends for Life Homecare dates back to 1970 when my mother, Norma E. Recco, opened her first home care office. For 35 years, she committed her life to home care and for over 20 years, I had the privilege of working side by side with her. She gave me the vision, knowledge, kindness and professionalism to help people live safely at home with comfort, independence and dignity.

There was one unique quality my mom, Norma E. Recco, instilled in me: “the key to quality was through professionalism in a family atmosphere.” When Friends for Life Homecare was founded in 2010, we were dedicated to living by this philosophy. Now almost a decade later, after having 10 successful years of service with my company, I can clearly see that my mom had it right- Success is in family, and that is what makes Friends For Life different from all the rest.

Friends for Life Homecare is family owned and operated, and everyone that deals with Friends for Life becomes a part of our family. When clients choose us, they adopt a professional family – a constant familiar support network that is always here to help. After all, isn’t that what families are all about?

We recognize the trust our clients instill in us every time Friends for Life enters their home, and we understand nothing is more important than their safety and well-being. Our business has evolved over the years, from home care to Medicaid and senior planning, support groups free seminars, volunteering and lastly giving back to our community. Though we continue to grow and expand each year, the one thing that will remain constant is our commitment to providing exceptional service, with compassion, excellence and reliability.

Many companies who are entering home services, are franchises of national companies or satellite offices. We are proud to be a family, locally owned and operated on Long Island, New York, with deep roots in home care. We are honored to be a part of a wonderful community that gives endless love and support that allows us various opportunities to give back.

Thank you for visiting Friends for Life’s Website. My commitment to you is that you will always have someone on your side helping you navigate through the challenges we face as we age. If I, or my Friends for Life team can assist in any way, please do not hesitate to take advantage of the easy access contact points here online, or give us a call. We’d be more than happy to help you and your loved ones.

Amy Recco: The Heart and Soul of Friends for Life

Over the past 15 years, Amy Recco has taken the foundation laid by Friends for Life and elevated it to extraordinary heights. Her unwavering commitment and visionary leadership have transformed the organization into a community cornerstone.

One of Amy’s most significant accomplishments is the growth of Senior Day in the Park, which started as a modest post-COVID gathering to reconnect seniors. Under her direction, it has blossomed into a celebrated annual event, drawing over 500 seniors and becoming a cherished community staple.

Amy’s dedication to excellence extends far beyond events. She has driven the growth of Friends for Life tenfold, streamlining operations, implementing new procedures, and building a stellar team. Her careful selection of office staff ensures that everyone on the team deeply understands the challenges of caring for loved ones, creating a culture of empathy and support.

For 15 years, Amy has guided Friends for Life through tremendous growth and transformation. Drawing on her personal experiences as a caregiver for her late mother-in-law, Norma Recco, and her own mother, Amy has become an unparalleled source of wisdom and advocacy for aging and caregiving. Her firsthand understanding of the struggles faced by families informs her work, making her a trusted advisor for hundreds of families navigating the complexities of elder care.

A Legacy of Advocacy and Care

Amy’s leadership is the backbone of Friends for Life. She is a constant presence—building relationships with clients, supporting the team, and fostering connections within the communities they serve. Her ability to balance hands-on involvement with visionary growth has solidified her reputation as an exceptional advocate for seniors and their families.

Beyond her professional work, Amy’s contributions to the community are extraordinary. She has earned four “Women of Distinction” awards from New York State and was honored with the Town of Oyster Bay’s “Random Acts of Kindness” award. Her passion for helping others led to the creation of the Friends for Life Senior Foundation, a nonprofit organization that funds initiatives such as luncheons, senior events, and much more.

Amy’s relentless advocacy and dedication are evident in every aspect of her life. She goes above and beyond, making herself available 24/7 to ensure families have peace of mind knowing their loved ones are cared for. Her goal is to create a better tomorrow for seniors and their families, promoting compassionate care and unwavering support.

Amy Recco is more than a leader—she is the heart of Friends for Life. Her kindness, warmth, and steadfast commitment to the community have touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she serves.
